Federations will be able to join World Boxing without having to leave the IBA.
Details: World Boxing President Van der Vorst told Reuters that the goal of this is to keep boxing in the Olympics rather than to pit World Boxing against the IBA.
"It doesn't bother me if a national federation chooses to remain affiliated with other international federations." They have the final say. But since we permit it, they are still able to join World Boxing. It's a transitional time, and you have to accept that everyone will be considering what's best for their boxers," the man stated.
Van der Vorst also called on federations to wake up and get to work, saying that everything must be done to keep boxing in the Olympics.
Quote: "I hope they understand what’s at stake – federation finances, participation in multi-sport events, and, most importantly, the Olympic dreams of their own boxers," stated the World Boxing president.
