Say hello to the AT37, a customized Toyota Land Cruiser created by Arctic Trucks. On the exterior, it resembles a Land Cruiser with large tires. But there is a little more to it than that.

Arctic Trucks—the same company that developed Top Gear's Hilux fleet for the infamous Polar Special—targeted the current Land Cruiser with a slew of modifications. The basic suspension is replaced with a two-way adjustable configuration that includes longer-travel coilovers in the front. New springs and dampers support the rear, giving the modified Toyota a modest 1.5-inch suspension lift. Arctic Trucks' 17-inch wheels are shod with BFGoodrich T/A K03 37-inch tires (thus the AT37 designation), and a 10-piece widebody kit is installed to ensure they fit without rubbing.

These are add-ons, but the modifications are far more extensive. The LC's entire chassis and body are redesigned, including moving the rear axle further back for a longer wheelbase and expanding the track. According to Arctic Trucks, this results in increased ground clearance and stability while preserving comfort. It also appears to be extremely mean.

The powertrain remains unchanged, but the speedometer has been recalibrated to reflect all of the suspension modifications. Mud flaps are put on, rubberized side stairs are installed, and the interior receives new carpeting to match the macho external feel. There are numerous emblems to identify this rig as unique, and a 2-inch multipurpose receiver hitch is attached in case you need to tow anything.

"Developing this project in the heart of [UK] Motorsport Valley has allowed us to have frequent and direct face-to-face communications with multiple suppliers," stated Arctic Trucks International R&D Manager Freyr Þórsson. "The resulting hands-on development has generated greatly improved performance."
