Police detained an ex-player for the French national team. He committed an inebriated crime.
Only recently have the actions of a Valencia football player made headlines in Spain's media, as the story has now spread to neighboring France, where another unpleasant incident involving a footballer has occurred.
Thus, local police reportedly detained former France and Monaco forward Wissam Ben-Yedder on Friday night, according to L'Equipe. The 34-year-old athlete was pulled over at around three in the morning.
The forward was taken to the police and charged with "driving while intoxicated, sexual assault while visibly intoxicated, and refusal to comply." Currently, he is under home arrest for the night, but the prosecution is requesting that the court remand Ben-Yedder into detention. Additionally, the forward has been invited by the police authorities for October 15th.
As a free agent, Ben-Yedder departed Monaco, where he had played the most games, at the beginning of June. Since then, the French national team's Nations League champion has not found a new club.
